From: Bob Klahn
To: Dist-150
Subj: What's new in Sirius version 0.43 (released today, 12/23/86)
CC: 150/2 110 111 130 150 190 200 602
New in Sirius version 0.43:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* The maximum number of message areas which Sirius can deal with in
in a single session has been increased from 20 to 30 (independent
area ARRAYS were replaced by an array of pointers to area RECORDS).
* Message display is now inhibited, except for the Show command,
whenever there are one or more characters in the type-ahead buffer.
Examples: -> "20T" will make message #20 the current message and
will Tag it, but will NOT display it.
-> "37S" will display message #37 once in full detail.
-> "NK" will display just the header of the "next"
message and ask if you want to kill it.
-> "HVH" will display message header info, one message
per line, high to low (until interrupted), for the
active group (e.g., for all msgs with files attached)
* The Back command now displays the message returned to (unless, as
just mentioned, there are characters in the type-ahead buffer).
* I fixed an elusive bug which could result in a message with a
trashed header, as this script demonstrates: (Copy (High, Take),
Doctor (Body (1)),
Show)
* The You command now supports aliases. Thus I can identify myself
to Sirius first as "Bob Klahn", but also as a STRING of names, such
as "Sysop Klahn Bob Big Julie Rapid Robert" (up to 73 characters
long). The primary name becomes the "From:" in all messages I
create. But messages will be marked as RECEIVED once they have
been DISPLAYED, if
(1) the "To:" field either matches my primary identity EXACTLY, or
(2) a case-insensitive comparison of the "To:" field to my alias
string yields a match.
* "Doctor Body Get" and "Copy Flat file" now remember the same file
name. Thus you can copy a message to a flat file, then enter
another message and insert a copy of the first message into it
without having to type a file name.
(Something more substantial for message replies is planned for a
future Sirius version, somewhat like the Usenet/SEAdog " >" body
references which have been appearing in EchoMail conferences more
and more often.)
* Script file DIST-150.SIR has been included in this release as a
demonstration of Sirius' ability to do customized mass mailings.
